At home science experiments for grown students

Students with a passion for a certain subject love to delve deep in to fun projects, whether it is at school or at home. One of those passions can be science and the experiments accompanying it. In this article we will share some ideas that people with interest in science might want to look in to. We won’t tell you how to do it, finding out for yourself is part of the learning experience!

Electricity

Electricity can be used in a wide variety of DIY projects. You could try to make your own flashlight with a Pringles tube. All you need is the tube, a simple circuit and a paperclip switch.

It’s also possible to make your very own balancing compass. You’ll need a regular compass, a horseshoe magnet, dough and a pencil!

Research chemicals

Those who are interested in chemistry, and have the appropriate research tools at home, could look to buy research chemicals with as sole purpose to research what it is made off. The only licit use of these chemicals is to research them, which can be an interesting learning experience.

Making clouds in a bottle

It is possible to make clouds appear ‘out of thin air’ within a bottle. The things you need to achieve this feat are a plastic bottle, rubbing alcohol, a wine cork and a bike pump.

Making your own small rocket engine

Of course this won’t be on a grand scale as the NASA engines, but it’s a fun home experiment nonetheless. To make your own miniature engine you’ll just need pasta, yeast and mouthwash!

Be slime-y

I know we said we would not tell you how to make it, but we had too much fun with this one. Who knew making your own personal colored slime could be this easy and so much fun? When you combine water, glue and the food coloring of your choice you’ll be three quarters of the way there. After that all you need to do is add some borax and you will have your personalized slime! Your inner child will thank you with this experiment.
